FOOD COLLECTIONS FOR HOLY FAMILY STUDENTS
As part of our outreach partnership and support with Holy Family Institute's Specialized Learning Program, we are providing food items to send home with students each Friday. The program is coordinated by the school's guidance counselor and is targeted at providing some nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for children who experience hunger or food insecurity. Please consider donating food or funds to support this mission. Information is on display in the church narthex, or contact Deb Sadowski at email@example.com or 724-719-0144. We will be collecting through the end of May.
PENTECOST - CONFIRMING A FUTURE OF FAITH, SUNDAY, JUNE 4
Pentecost Sunday, the day we celebrate God's gift of the Holy Spirit. We will also share in the witness and support our Confirmation class as they become adult members of the church. We celebrate the spirit present in these young people, and embrace them as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Wear your colors of flame and fire! These symbolize the flame of the Holy Spirit that hovered over the heads of the disciples on that first Pentecost day.
In June, on Faith in Action Sunday we will sew Dignity Robes.
But first we need to cut them out.
We will hold our Fourth Annual "Cut Up" session on
Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4 to 6:30 PM
Just bring scissors an dpins if you have them, patterns and fabric will be available.
AND THEN we will go to supper! Mia Madre is open on California Avenue in Avalon.
Please send your YESSES for cutting and/or supper to Gail Buchanan at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 412-734-2050.
Bring your two-cents-a-meal can to worship on May 21st for collection. Watch the wagons work!
HOME STAY FAMILIES NEEDED
Experience a different culture from your very own home! Holy Family International College Preparatory Program is looking for a Home Stay Family to host one of their male Sewickley Academy students from China to live in their homes during the 2017-2018 school year. The student is looking for the opportunity to experience life with an American family. He will be a sophomore in the 2017-2018 school year. Home Stay Families will receive a generous monthly payment to care for international students. For more information, contact Debbie Gooden at 412-766-9020 ext. 1221 or email@example.com.
