Where in the World is Pastor Donna?
After letting my passport expire for lack of international travel, I have gotten a new passport and I am ready to go! My first trip is to fly to London, England, where I will meet Rebecca (after her month-long study in Italy). Together we will go on an Adventure throughout Europe including: Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and France. It will be a whirlwind tour in 1 week! I will be gone from June 16-26. Rev. Jean Henderson is preaching on June 18, as well as offering pastoral care (412-352-8001) as needed . Rev. Susan Rothenberg is preaching on June 25. I will be back from vacation and in the pulpit on July 2 and will look forward to opportunities to share my experiences.
Then, next year—April 10-21, 2018—I will be going on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It is a unique opportunity to experience the Holy Land through the lens of women in Scripture. Led by Bishop Charlene Kammerer, we will learn what it meant for women to navigate their world and culture. We will see how coming to believe in Jesus of Nazareth transformed their lives and gave them a new future.
It is a trip offered through Educational Opportunities Tours. As a registered clergy, I am a host. As a host, I am inviting you to come join the tour. I have brochures available in the narthex and would be happy to talk with anyone who is interested. If you cannot come, don’t worry, I will plan on sharing my study leave experience—stories and pictures—with the whole congregation after my return.
PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY GROUP will meet on Wednesday, June 14 at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room. The Scripture passage for this week is Psalm 1 (Wisdom Psalm). All are welcome.

“FIVE WISHES” SEMINAR — Getting your affairs in order as you age
Here’s an opportunity for young and old to give a special gift to your family! On Sunday, June 25 Jean Henderson will lead a one-hour seminar with light lunch in Fellowship Hall at 11:30 AM.
The subject is “FIVE WISHES,” based on a booklet from Aging with Dignity. The cost is $5.00 for each participant; you will receive lunch and the booklet for personal use. The program is for those 18 or older, and in Pennsylvania, it meets legal requirements for living wills. Directions will be given for its use.
The wishes include: the person I want to make care decisions for me when I cannot; the kind of medical treatment I want or don’t want; how comfortable I want to be; how I want people to treat me; and what I want my loved ones to know. This program has been called ‘”The first living will with a heart and soul.”’
Please sign up in the Narthex or with Jean at firstname.lastname@example.org.

IS YOUR HEAD IN THE CLOUDS??? Well, we certainly hope so – at least on eight Monday evenings this summer. We’ll gather at 7-8 PM in Fellowship Hall beginning July 10 through August 28 for our summer Bible Study - “CLOUD OF WITNESSES: The Community of Christ in Hebrews.”
Come learn about Hebrews – the most unique book in the Bible. We’ll study the many influences that form and hold us together as a community; this is not just a study for our heads, but also our hearts and souls. Cost of the study book is $10.00. Jean Henderson, Donna Giver-Johnson and Linda Williams
