The Church Session has approved the following policy to take effect in the event of bad weather, to avoid having anyone travel in unsafe conditions. On weekdays: if school is cancelled in the Avonworth School District, the church offices will be closed, and all activities and meetings scheduled for that day are cancelled. With respect to committee meetings, the chair will determine whether to hold the meeting and to communicate the decision to the committee members. When the school district operates on a two-hour delay, the church offices will remain open during normal business hours and all activities and meetings scheduled for the day will take place at their scheduled times. In the event of an early school dismissal, it is up to the discretion of the pastor to determine whether to close early.
If bad weather occurs during the weekend, the decision to close and cancel worship service will be made by a group consisting of the pastor, the property chair, and the communications chair. Closing information will be available on the major news (KDKA, WTAE and WPXI) and radio (KDKA-AM 1020) stations, and posted to the CPCBA website, as well as an e-blast sent to all church members.
