Our Invitation
At Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, we invite you to:
Come just as you are.. Jesus seeks to be in relationship with everyone. So do we. Really--everyone!
Find the joy and inspiration you seek... Jesus knows we all need more peace and joy. We work hard to make it happen here.
Become the person you were created to be.... Jesus calls us to walk with him. That means: growing in faith, going in love.
We are a Matthew 25 Church
Matthew 25:31–46 challenges us to embrace Jesus’ call to take our living faith into our communities and the world. It calls all of us to actively engage in the world around us, so our faith comes alive and we wake up to new possibilities. As a Matthew 25 church, we are called to live out true discipleship by acting boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. We joyfully share this vision and invitation with you!
We are gay-affirming and LGBTQ-friendly
We welcome all to worship, commune and join in fellowship with us. We have gay and lesbian members in our church leadership and have performed same-sex marriages. If you an LGBTQ+ person in Pittsburgh’s North Boroughs, you are invited to to worship with us on Sunday morning in person or via the livestream on this website. If you are searching for a church in your area, see www.gaychurch.org.
We support racial justice and equity
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and are precious; we also take to heart Jesus’ command to love our neighbor (Mark 12:30-31; Gal. 5:13-14). Where any of God’s children are suffering prejudice or oppression, it is our duty as followers of Christ to work for their freedom and equity (Micah 6:7-8; Proverbs 31:8-9). As a Matthew 25 church, one of our goals is to help dismantle the structural racism that exists in our country. Toward that end, we have formed our CARE team – Community Action for Racial Equity – and have partnered with other churches in the area who are called to participate in this work.
We have a history
We have a long history in our community and believe in building on this history as we seek to bring Christ to our community and our community to Christ.
