Help Make Soup for Blue Christmas

“Blue Christmas" or "Longest Night" service is held during the Advent season, on or around the Winter Solstice. This is the darkest day of the year with the least amount of sunshine. Winter solstice is on December 21 but our service this year will be on Wednesday, December 17 at 7 pm.

This service is specifically intended to offer comfort and hope to those experiencing grief and sadness. The intent is to provide a space to acknowledge pain while focusing on the promise of hope in the face of darkness.

This year, the deacons would like to offer everyone who comes some comfort food in the form of soup to take home. This year we are expecting about 70 participants.

The AskCould you make some soup and have it at the church to send home with the folks who come to service that night?

The Logistics: 32 ounce containers are available in the narthex. Please take as many as you can commit to bring back to distribute. A sign up sheet will also be in the narthex.

Soups should be brought to the church by Sunday, December 14. Soups can be brought frozen OR they will be refrigerated until distribution.

The Extras: please feel label your soup (include recipe/ingredients, if you’d like!)

You Should Know: Your soup will not go to waste! If we happen to get more soup than worshippers that night, we will be sure to get your soup to someone in need of a meal.

Thank you for your consideration of this request to help others during the beautiful-but sometimes difficult- holiday season.
