A Forest of Changing Colors

It’s a New Day,

and I see a Forest of Changing Colors

beautiful, vibrant, alive with possibilities

And I want to run into it

Soon I discover fallen leaves blanketing the forest floor

in a splendor of colors,

but covering the path and obstructing its view

And so, I slow down….

I hike into this Forest of Changing Colors

And soon I encounter a tree root that keeps the tree standing firm

and upright,

but makes me stumble

And so, I slow down…

I walk into this Forest of Changing Colors

And soon I come upon a rock that is sure and steady and strong,

but twists my ankle

And so, I slow down…

I step cautiously into this Forest of Changing Colors

realizing how much

has changed—

the path is not clear

the way is not straight

the pace is not quick

It’s a New Season,

and into this Forest of Changing Colors

I wonder as I wander

how much things have changed,

how much I have changed
