Session Highlights for February 2020

With a new year upon us, we are introducing a new feature to keep our congregation informed about Session’s activities. Each month we will highlight motions of interest that have been passed by Session – omitting administrative ones — and use this as a
further way for Session to communicate with the congregation. During this month’s Session meeting, the elders approved:
• A slate of candidates for church officers including elders, deacons, counters, financial secretary, treasurer, and nominating committee.
• A congregational meeting for Sunday, March 29 after worship for the purpose of electing new officers.
Each month, we have a Featured Committee of the Month. In addition to being responsible for announcements and scripture reading, the Featured Committee explains
to Session how it is working to bring Christ to the community and the community to Christ. This is a wonderful opportunity for the elders to gain a deeper understanding of the various functions within the church, and to share ideas amongst the group, as well as providing new elders with an overview of the activities and roles of each committee.

The Fellowship Committee was featured this month in February.

The elders and deacons gathered together on February 8, 2020 for a one-day Officers Retreat at the Pittsburgh Presbytery. During the retreat, we engaged in the following:
1. Fellowship and got to know our fellow officers in the church better
2. Spent time in devotions to grow in our faith
3. Discussed and began to move forward on some of the initiatives in our
Transformation Campaign
4. Prepared for when Pastor Donna is away on Sabbatical this summer
It was a successful retreat which saw good attendance, enthusiastic participation, and a spirit of gratitude and hope!
